Nearly 15 million people use Macintosh OS X, the world’s most advanced operating system, with access to over 12,000 applications.
Reasons to Use a Mac
Connect to the Internet worry free. Sophos recommends Macs for network security. (A second article about this from the BBC.) Symantec says there are no known viruses for the Mac. (Also see Mac viruses: 0, Windows viruses: 114,000.)
Macs run Windows (Windows can’t run Macs) — simultaneously, too.
Believe it or not, Mac Pro is cheaper than a Dell — by a lot
Websites look their best on a Mac.
A 30-day trial version of iWorks '08 is available. Really beautiful software. (It may say it requires a G4 but it works on G3.)
Apple rated top American tech performer (number four in the world).

The Frugal Mac
Why spend a fortune on software when a free or low-cost application will do much, if not all, of what you want? (Besides, even if you are a specialist, do you really need all of that depth?)
The money you save on software is the money you can apply to the hardware you want: the extra hard drive(s), scanner, color laser printer, digital camera, video camera, etc.
SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION MODELS
Freeware
Smileware
Donorware
Shareware
Commercialware
Rentware
Shareware and commercial apps may offer trial versions but there are either time or feature limitations. The problem with time limitations is that once the trial ends, you cannot recover the documents you may have worked on. Shareware and commercial software with pricey upgrades are also known as rentware.
With freeware/smileware/donorware, there are no time or feature limitations.
So you get to find out if the application is something you really need. And if it is, what features of the application do you really need?
If you find you need features available on shareware or commercial applications,
then consider trying a trial version and test the usability of its features,
not if you think you might want the app in general.

But what about valid letters? This online petition was originally sent out in October 2001. Yes, it was a true story, a rarity for these things. Interesting it is still circulating, but not surprising.
Do online petitions work? See what these various sources have to say.
Conclusion: Break the chain. Never forward chain letters, valid or not.
